Chatfield State Park spans over 5,600 acres around Chatfield Reservoir in Littleton. The park offers swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, and over 26 miles of multi-use trails. The wide-open plains and cottonwood groves are great for picnics, and the reservoir beach is popular in summer. Birdwatching is excellent — over 350 species have been recorded. The park also has a model airplane field, hot air balloon launch area, and seasonal ranger programs.
